CRS – background and organisation

Uppsala Religion and Society Research Centre (CRS) is an interdisciplinary research centre at Uppsala University, Department of Theology, focusing at religious and social processes of change. The researchers at CRS are also involved in the development and management of academic courses related to the research.

The presently major research programme is The Impact of religion – Challenges for Society, Law and Democracy. It runs over ten years 2008-2018 and involves about 50 researchers at several faculties and departments at Uppsala university. The predecessor of CRS was The Uppsala Institute for Diaconal and Social Studies (DVI) at the Samariterhemmet Diaconal Foundation.
