Welfare and Values in Europe: Transitions related to Religion, Minorities and Gender (WaVE)
Aim
The project aims to generate new insights into religious, minority and gender related values which impact on social change in European society. WaVE starts from the assumption that concepts such as "cultural identities" and "values" can best be understood by looking at the ways in which they are expressed and developed in practice. The project therefore studies the interactions between diverse value systems as seen from the perspective of values. Who offers what to whom and for what reasons are understood in the project as critical markers of values in a given context. 35 researchers in 12 countries participated in the project. Project period: 2006-2009. For a full project outline see the Final report.
Funding
The project was financed by the European Commission (EU) through the 6th Framework programme and managed by Uppsala University as the coordinator. The research has been regularly reported to the European Commission.
Publications
The main working reports, ”State of the art reports” och ”Case study reports”, are published online at the website of Uppsala university library. A full list is presented here, under Publications. A final report was also completed. As this was a EU framework 6 programme, one outcome was Policy Recommendations. Results from the WaVE project will be published in forthcoming articles and also be further developed in interplay with results from the WREP project, as part of the work in the IMPACT programme, Theme 5.
