Founder of CRS and Impact received medal

Anders Bäckström, Senior Professor at the Religion and Society Research Centre and one of the founders of the Impact Programme and CRS, has received Uppsala University's Rudbeck Medal.

The medal was initiated at the third centenary of the death of Olaus Rudbeck in 2002. It is awarded for extraordinary scientific efforts and given primarily to such merits gained at Uppsala University.

The Vice Chancellor, Eva Åkesson, writes in her motivation:

“Anders Bäckström has successfully contributed to strengthening the internationally leading position of Uppsala University within the research area of religion, law and society. This has been done by the establishment of a Centre of Excellence based on the Linnaeus Programme "The Impact of Religion: Challenges for Society, Law and Democracy".

The medal was awarded in conjunction with the winter conferment ceremony in the Uppsala University Main hall January 25 this year.
