With an eye for the international family

2013-02-11

Professor Maarit Jänterä-Jareborg was recently awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Bergen, Norway for her international research into family law.

In an interview about her research, Maarit Jänterä-Jareborg said, that there is often great confusion regarding what  religion is and what law is, and this confusion may even be misused or manipulated, like when someone argues that women's rights should be limited for religious reasons. More research is needed about what freedom of religion really means in this regard. The interview (in Norwegian) is in its entirety published on the website of the University of Bergen. Professor Jänterä-Jareborg is Deputy Director of the IMPACT programme, and theme leader of Theme 3 Families, Law and Society.
