Rethinking Secularism (Again)

Blog post about secularism by CRS-researcher.

For some years, researchers in the emerging field of secularism studies have discussed whether secularism has a core of it's own, or if it can only be understood in relation to religion.

CRS-researcher Per-Erik Nilsson examines the debate over secularism in a blog post on the website of The Critical Religion Association. He finds that however interesting and important the discussion, many of the participants seem to end up in paradoxes. On top of that, according to Nilsson, they also miss some important lessons from related disciplines such as critical religion theory and postcolonial research on religion.
