This book approaches post-truth and relativism in a multidisciplinary fashion. The Citizen Researcher: Cooperation, Activism, and Integrity in Research

Victoria Enkvist (Faculty of Law, Uppsala University) was invited by Sverigesradio to discuss the concept of "Freedom of Religion". 

CRS research seminars are a complement to higher seminars tied to a particular discipline and give researchers the opportunity to present and discuss research with a focus on religion and society in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Mudar Shakra is a PhD student at the Department of Theology at Uppsala University. His main focus in his doctoral study is related to the relation between law and religion in the context of religious and secular legal and judicial systems between Sweden and Middle East.

More than 30 doctoral students from all over the world were invited to present their research at a doctoral workshop organized by Cemfor and CRS at Uppsala University.

Emin Poljarevic, lecturer at the department of theology and researcher within the Impact programme, has specialized in Islamic studies, political Islam and Salafism. Impact researchers Mosa Sayed ( Law at Uppsala University) and Pia Karlsson Minganti (Department of Ethnology, Stockholm University) recently obtained funds for research from the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation, in order to study Muslim legal practices in Sweden.

– It’s a pressing need for social science and humanities research in this field, and CRS is an excellent forum for such multidisciplinary research collaboration, says Annika Nilsson.

The Impact researcher and Professor in Law Maarit Jänterä-Jareborg is interviewed in the newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet about her thoughts on how the tradition of Sharia is used in the Swedish legal system.

24th of May Mia Lövheim, Professor in Sociology of Religion, was interviewed by the magazine Kyrkans Tidning. In the magazine she speaks about how religion has become more popular and visible in Swedish media. Her research is part of the research programme The Impact of Religion.

On May 28th, 2018 the Faculty of Theology and CRS invited researchers to a seminar on innovative collaborative research projects between academia and the public and private sectors.

Three lawyers from the Impact Programme signed an editorial in the Swedish newspaper SvD dealing with the freedom to exercise one's religion. 

The Swedish Network for European Legal Studies (SNELS) is holding its annual conference on April 9-10 in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme of the conference is “Freedom to and Freedom from Religion: the Rule of Law in the European Democratic State”. 

What do secular rituals imply? The Swedish Church has long been the obvious space for organizing important rituals in the life cycles of the Swedes, such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals. But this obviousness is challenged now by the growing space given to secular equivalents of these rituals.

At the ceremony of Uppsala University’s winter promotion Professor Emeritus Fred Nyberg received the Uppsala university Rudbeck medal. Fred Nyberg is Professor Emeritus in the field of biological addiction and Senior Professor at the institution of pharmaceutical bio science.

Impact- och religionsforskaren Josephine Sundqvist har med anledning av sin nyutkomna avhandling “Beyond an instrumental approach to religion and development - Challenges for church-based healthcare in Tanzania” intervjuats av tidningen Dagen.  

The dissertation “Beyond an instrumental approach to religion and development - Challenges for church-based healthcare in Tanzania” serves as a contribution to the larger ongoing debate on the role of religion in development in an effort to move beyond an instrumental approach.

This is one of many findings that Prof. Anders Bäckström together with other Impact researchers put forward in the Wave-project. The newly released anthology “Religion and Welfare in Europe. Gendered and minority perspectives” is the final report of the project, which presents rich case studies and research conclusions.

“Religion and Welfare in Europe” explores regional conceptions and variations in welfare and religion across Europe.
