Stefan Jonsson, Professor of Ethnic Studies at Institute for Research on Migration, Ethnicity and Society, REMESO, Linköpings University.
Stefan Jonsson’s research is multidisciplinary with a base in critical cultural theory and aiming toward an understanding of the social and historical formation of collective identities. Originally a scholar and critic of literature, aesthetics, and intellectual history, Stefan has increasingly focused on the social and historical processes through which identities are constituted and transformed in the crossroad between the psychic and the political or the social. Ongoing projects include ‘How Art and Literature Help Us Understand Democracy”, (VR 2018–) and ‘Monstrous Events: Aesthetic Dimensions of Collective Political Protest, 2011 and after”, (RJ 2018–).

Professor Abby Day is a leading researcher within the sociology of religion with a focus on developing new methods and theories for the study of religion and belief as part of everyday practices and in interaction with ethnicity, culture and gender. She has been invited to lecture on her recent publication The Religious Lives of Older Laywomen: The Last Active Anglican Generation (2017). OUP.
UNDERSTANDING AFRICAN PENTECOSTALISM IN EUROPE IN THE DISCONTINUITY CONTINUITY DEBATE

Discussion about whether African Pentecostalism represents “a complete break with the past” or continues with little change to ancient beliefs, often leads to misunderstandings, particularly when African Pentecostals encounter European Christianity.
This lecture discusses this question from the perspective of many years studying Pentecostalism in several African countries and in its diaspora form in Europe.
Allan H Andersson is professor of Mission & Pentecostal Studies at Department of Theology and Religion, at University of Birmingham. Andersson is one of the leading scholars in the field of Pentecostalism and his main research is in the areas of Pentecostal history and intercultural theology. He is currently working on the relationship between Pentecostalism and African popular religious ideas. He is the author of several ground breaking books in the field.
