Workshop for doctoral students

Monday April 23rd at 13.00 – Tuesday April 24th to 11:30

The purpose of the workshop is to enable and stimulated methodological reflection for the participating doctoral students. It gives the possibility to discuss texts in a multidisciplinary setting. The workshop opens with a reception, Monday 23, April, at 13:00.

Requirements

To be eligible for participation in the workshop you need to be registered to the main conference The Impact of Religion: Challenges for Society, Law and Democracy.

Lectures

The workshop starts with two lectures from Professor Lori Beaman (Department of Classics and Religious Studies, University of Ottawa) and Professor Marie-Claire Foblets (Legal Anthropology, Catholic University of Leuven and Director of the Max Planck Institute for social Anthropology).

Presentations

Each participant will be given the opportunity to present a text in smaller groups and get feedback from senior scholars within the adjacent fields to the topic of the main conference. The presentation should focus on methodological inquires and the presented text might be anything from a chapter in your thesis, an article, or a research proposal.

Depending on the number of participants, the time for each presentation might vary. However, you will be given at least 20 minutes for presentation and 20 minutes for comments and discussion.

Lunch & Dinner

The workshop includes coffee and a dinner without extra cost. These social gatherings are great opportunities to continue the discussions under less formal circumstances and for networking.

Schedule

The workshop takes place in House 22, Engelska Parken Campus, Uppsala University.
