Welfare and Religion in a Global Perspective

This project is a case study on the role of the church as performers of welfare within the social economy in the local administrative district of Kigoma in Tanzania. The overall aim of this study is to analyze the role of religious actors within civil society and their function as welfare performers in the social economy. The data collected locally, through observations, questionnaires and interviews will be defined in terms of a case study and analyzed by theories of the social capital in relation to the ongoing globalization process.
