Youth at the Margins: The Contribution of Faith-based Organisations to Social Cohesion
The overarching aim is to undertake a comparative exploration of the nature and extent of the contribution of faith-based organisations to social cohesion and in particular the integration of marginalised youth at local level in South Africa and Nordic Europe. (The project concerns the Swedish part of a collaborative international project.)
The aim of this preparatory pilot study is to collect and critically engage withpolicy documents and related strategic documentation from the Swedish context, as well as relevant scholarly literature. The purpose is to develop an appropriate theoretical and conceptual framework for the empirical research that will follow, to map the local situation in the Swedish case study alongside the other international partners, and to take part in international planning meetings for the empirical research. (The purpose is also to develop and write applications to secure further funding for the later stages of the project.)
The project starts during fall 2013 with an international working conference in Pretoria, South Africa.
